Forest ecosystems provide key goods and services for the subsistence and survival of local populations. Trees and forests strengthen poor people’s assets base for increased incomes, food security and resilience to shocks. Trees and forests also provide descent employment in the wood industry, ecotourism, and the collection and sale of a wide range of non-wood forest products.
